Remington Rand 1911a1 Serial Number Lookup

He saw that they had (what he believes to be) a WWII-era 1911 Remington Rand pistol. Unsure of the value and history of the gun, he didn't buy it, although kept it in mind. We've been researching, and it appears that the Rand is a very valuable gun, with a nice condition one able to go for at least $1500.

Description: WW2 production 1911-A1.45 automatic manufactured by Remington Rand of Syracuse New York. Serial number 2198817.This pistol is just about unfired condition with only very minor traces of edge wear from storage. It still retains over 98% of its original grey/green parkerized finish. Jun 25, 2010 I am new to this forum and am looking for some help in determining the value of a Remington Rand that I just inherited. I have a Remington Rand 1911A1 that has a Type II slide markings, original DuLite finish, stamped 'P' proof mark, stamped FJA Col. Atwood inspectors stamp and stamped with the ordinance inspectors stamp.
